Are meals provided for the students? Yes. We will provide breakfast, lunch, and a PM snack at no extra cost.
Does my child or family have to be on a plant-based diet to attend the school? No, your child does not need to be on a plant-based diet to attend the school. We only serve vegan food and encourage the children to learn about and enjoy the different vegetables, fruits, and herbs they are eating.
Does my child or family need to know Spanish in order for them to attend? No, your child nor the family needs to speak Spanish in order for your child to attend. They will learn Spanish over time and we will provide the family with tools to help the child continue learning while at home.
What type of clothing does my child need for the school? Making sure your child is properly dressed is important to their ability to be able to participate fully, safely, and comfortably. We believe the old saying, "There's no such things as bad weather, only bad clothes." That is why we ask that you bring the following items for the children:
Change of Clothes: As we are a nature-based preschool, we will be allowing the children to explore and play outside. They will be dirty when you pick them up. If they become too dirty or wet, they will need a complete set of clothes to change into.
Boots: please provide a waterproof boot year-round. One for the warmer months and one that is insulated warmly in the winter.
Water Bottle: Please provide a reusable water bottle.
Summer Hat: As we will be outside most of the day, a bucket hat to protect their little ears is recommended.
Winter Wear: During temperatures below 60°F, children will need to be dressed in layers, and have a winter hat, scarf, face mask, and gloves available.
Rain gear: Providing a full body rain suit for your child to wear on rainy days is essential. We recommend Muddy Buddy or Oakiwear.
We ask that you monitor the weather and pack appropriately for the day.
Will my child be outside in all types of weather? We will try to be outside whenever possible in the proper gear. If there are dangerous skies such as lightening and extreme winds or if the temperature is above 100°F and below-freezing temps, we will be inside.
Is Pebble Pond Preschool a center or a home-childcare? We are are a listed home facility in the process of being registered and licensed. What is the capacity of Pebble Pond Preschool? We are able to care for children ages 2 to 12. Currently as a listed home, we are able to care for 3 unrelated children plus my two preschoolers. After becoming registered we will be able to care for 6 during the day (including my 2) and then after becoming licensed hopefully in the fall we will be able to care for up to 8 during the day.
Do you require immunizations? We do require student vaccination records or a Texas Vaccine Exemption form. I really love the concept of your school and want to help. What can I do? Please spread the word about our school to your friends and family through word of mouth and social media. Consider donating items to the school such as craft supplies, natural items such as acorns, or you can donate money on our GoFundMe site. Anything will help in making sure that our school continues to grow and serve families that want a Spanish immersion, nature and plant based school for their little ones.
